POOR MAN’S STEW (HAMBURGER & MAC STEW)

Poor Man's Stew Cooks up quicker than a normal stew and is one that is often incredibly kid friendly... all you have to say is "hamburger stew"! Low cost, easy to prepare and quick to finish? What's not to love?

Budget friendly but not short on flavor, this Poor Man’s Stew is reminiscent of those simple but tasty meals that our parents used to make. Kid friendly and a campfire favorite for its easy preparation.

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs - Ground Beef
  • 1 - 14.5oz Can Stewed Tomatoes
  • 1 - 15.25oz Can Yellow Corn
  • 8oz Elbow Macaroni Noodles, uncooked
  • 1 Cup Water
  • 2 Cloves Garlic, Minced
  • 1/2 Medium White Onion, Diced
  • 1 Tsp Dried Basil
  • 1 Tsp Dried Oregano
  • 1 Tsp Dried Thyme
  • 1/2 Cup - Mild Cheddar Cheese, Shredded (for topping)
  • Salt and Pepper

Instructions

  1. Pre Heat Dutch Oven to 350F Degrees
  2. Add Ground Beef, Onion and Garlic to Pan and Cook until slightly browned. Drain and Remove excess fat
  3. Add all ingredient (except cheese) to the pot and add salt and pepper to taste
  4. Cook for 20-25 Minutes or until noodles are cooked al dente (chewy yet still firm and holding its shape)
  5. Remove from heat and serve in bowls. Top with cheese if desired
